Arcane Future – Myth, Machine, and Nature

“Arcane Future – Myth, Machine and Nature” explores a posthuman world in which advanced biotechnology and ancient systems of belief coexist. Set against the backdrop of ecological collapse, the series imagines two divergent responses to the future: cyborgs who pursue survival through technological enhancement, and genetically transformed human–animal hybrids who seek to restore their relationship with the natural world through ritual, mythology, and collective memory.
Inspired by Slavic folklore, pagan cosmologies, and speculative fiction, the project envisions a future in which contemporary subcultures evolve into new transgenic forms of life. In a paradoxical reversal, genetic engineering—the ultimate product of technological civilization—becomes the means through which these hybrid beings reconnect with nature. Their rituals, symbols, and beliefs reflect an attempt to redefine humanity’s place within a world no longer organized around human supremacy.
Rather than presenting technology and nature as opposing forces, the series brings science, mythology, and ecology into dialogue, imagining forms of coexistence that emerge from their intersection. Through this speculative world, the paintings reflect on contemporary ecological and cultural transformations while proposing alternative ways of understanding the relationship between humans, technology, and the living world.
