Artist Statement

In my artwork, I use oil painting, video/animations, and installations as mediums. My paintings are figurative with strong contrasts, high in detail and precise, created in the style I named “posthuman realism.”  The main subject of my research is the theme of posthumanism in its two meanings: in the context of physically altered humanity, as well as posthumanism as a philosophical idea that implies a posthuman perspective where man is decentralized. The speculative fiction that I create is sometimes utopian and more often dystopian. In my artwork, through the prism of social relations, I deal with issues from class struggles full of violence to forbidden love affairs, addressing themes related to genetic engineering, pandemics, crises, wars, and ecological catastrophes. Reality is always displaced and tells dystopian mythical-science-fiction narratives in an attempt to reexamine contemporary world phenomena or potential problems of future humanity. The heroes in my work are often victims of repressive systems, or they fight for their ideals, and a better world. Genetically manipulated, post-biological subjects question the very limits of humanity, erasing the boundaries between nature and technology, man and machine. In a world where we are increasingly dependent on technology, we have already become chimeras and cyborgs. My art draws attention to the necessity of harmonizing technological progress with nature, focusing on eco-posthumanism as a possible solution to our current ecological problems.
